Zeus tricked Kratos into draining his power into the Blade of Olympus, killing the Ghost of Sparta, but Kratos made it back to that moment in time with the help of Gaia and the Sisters of Fate. Zeus's fears turned out to be legitimate, as Kratos sought revenge for the imprisonment of his brother and the abandonment he felt from Zeus and the other Olympians. Like his father, Cronos, Zeus was afraid that Kratos would kill him. This was only exacerbated by the fact that Kratos realized Deimos was not the marked brother that the prophecy spoke of.
